The Palace Theatre in Swansea, a Grade II listed landmark with over 135 years of history, has recently undergone a major transformation following years of decline. Acquired by the City and County of Swansea in 2020, the building was restored and repurposed as office space, preserving its architectural heritage while adapting it for modern use.

TSS Balustrade Centre was proud to support this significant restoration. This was a highly challenging installation, involving approximately 80 linear metres of true curved frameless balustrade with multiple radii, some as tight as 450mm. Each floor was meticulously templated using traditional methods to capture the precise curvature, ensuring a seamless interface with the existing in-situ metalwork.

We designed and installed a frameless, channel-based glass balustrade system tested to a 1.5kN line loading. The system's base was bespoke RAL colour powder-coated to complement the interior design. The result is a sleek, contemporary finish that enhances the building's character while meeting modern safety standards.

This project reflects our commitment to quality craftsmanship, technical precision, and sympathetic restoration, helping safeguard the Palace Theatre for generations to come.
